Login Widget Allows Access from your Website

June 21, 2011 Rob Arthurs

This should be of interest to a lot of event producers. We have created a widget that will allow delegates to login and enter your event community directly from your own conference website.

How it works:

In your event community on Leebug, you will grab a your login widget code, which is just a snippet of html code that looks like this:

<iframe src='http://www.leebug.com/widgets/login/?id=572'
scrolling='no' frameborder='0' style='border:none; overflow:hidden;
width:300px; height:250px;' allowTransparency='true'></iframe>

You will then paste this code into your website. The widget can be placed wherever you want, however a logical place would be on a Networking page. Presumably you will have set a web page up where you mention that Leebug is being used as the online networking solution for your event, or where you mention the live networking opportunities happening at the event, such as cocktail parties.

If a user isn’t logged into Leebug and your event community, the widget they will see is this box prompting for a username and password. Login credentials are issued to your delegates at the time they are invited into the event community. So now, when the invitation email is sent out, delegates can be directed to login from your website, rather than through the Leebug home page. This in turn helps maintain your brand because the traffic is directed through your website.

For users that have logged into Leebug, and are perhaps returning to view your Networking page, the widget they will see pulls 8 randomly selected profile photos from the delegates in the online community and gives an “Enter the Community” access point that will direct them back into Leebug. People who aren’t registered with Leebug and attached to your event community will not see the profile photos, nor will them be able access the website.

This login widget is part of our ongoing effort to put Leebug in the background and make the delegate experience all about the event producer’s brand. Big thanks to Ruud Janssen for suggesting this feature. It was a wonderful idea, and we are excited to roll it out for ESOT Glasgow 2011 and the other events on the platform.
